Meet the face behind the brand.
In June of 2020, Ebony created Salty May Jewellery Designs from her kitchen table.
A creative and entrepreneurial mind, paired with a new-found passion for jewellery, she set a vision to build her own sustainable jewellery brand.
In the few short years that followed, her growth & knowledge have shined through in her designs that are made for daily wear.
When not tinkering at her jewellery bench; she loves being out in nature, playing sport or wandering the farmers markets.
SUSTAINABILITY
At Salty May, we are passionate about changing the way people view and buy jewellery.
We only use materials that are durable & made to last, ensuring that your beloved pieces don't eventually end up in landfill. For this reason, we have chosen not to sell plated jewellery that often contains harmful or irritating materials (such as lead or nickel).
Each piece is slowly made by hand, in our small seaside studio on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Your order is then packed using recyclable, plastic free packaging.
We are committed to making jewellery that lasts, while running our business as ethically as possible.
Quick Q & A with Ebony
-
What is your favourite thing about owning a jewellery business?
When I see someone wearing Salty May in person, is the best feeling! Knowing each piece has been handcrafted and is unique to them is so special.
-
What is your favourite piece to wear?
Shop my favourites hereAny kind of small gold hoops.
The Classic Freshwater Pearl Hoops are a staple in my personal collection. I love stacking them with studs and other hoops from our range. -
What are your biggest inspirations?
This incredible world that we live in.
Organic textures, flowing water, the sunlight beaming down and casting shadows. One step outside into nature and I am instantly inspired. -
Where is Salty May headed?
Treading lightly on the planet while running our brand is a high priority.
This currently looks like using recycled metals where possible & plastic free packaging on all orders. It is a process we will be continually refining in future!
I'm excited to continue designing timeless pieces that are made to last and be passed down for years to come.
Thank you for being here x
